Jellyfish Community Youth Project: Jelly-Teenz

JELLY-TEENZ 2014 – we are so proud of you! The event (pic above) was a great success a beautiful afternoon and evening on The Orchard Millennium Green in Buckfastleigh – we will try to make it an annual event! Thank You to EVERYONE who participated, helped, supported, thought about us, came and more – THANK YOU BUCKFASTLEIGH!!! Our wonderful September exhibition was our first participation in Devon Open Studios. Still chance to come and see it till coming Friday the3rd of October. We have had a lot of visitors from over during this month and are very happy with the Devon Open Studios turnout.

October exhibition and Jellyfish’s 1st Birthday celebration:

A new exciting exhibition with four artists from Totnes coming up in October. There will be beautiful printmaking by Barbara Childs, colourful Photographs by Linda Griffiths, lovely Willow sculptures, weaving and Baskets by Katherine Miles & Bridget Coatalen.

Everyone is welcome to the Opening Event on Saturday the 4th of October from -9pm – A very special occasion – It is Jellyfish’s 1st Birthday! Yippiiiii!
Wonderful Lisa Beale, Cake Creations Devon is baking an amazing birthday cake – so do not miss out! The Bar will be open and you can enjoy free local nibbles as usual.
Music provided by classical guitarist Alex Knight – We look forward to a wonderful and special Birthday event and exhibition opening this exciting autumn!

Jellyfish Film Study Group/Film Screenings:

From Friday the 19th of September – Friday the 17th of October:

We love it – “Twin Peaks” weekly – so something to join watching:) (made 1990-1991) (8 episodes)

An idiosyncratic FBI Agent investigates the murder of a young woman in the even more idiosyncratic town of Twin Peaks.

Doors open at 7pm, time for drinks and an intro talk. There are always wonderful discussions after the screenings, so feel welcome to stay and join in.
Everyone welcome – Tickets £3 – please book in advance – Café/Bar open.

Life drawing sessions:

Tuesday the 14th of October from 7.30-9.30pm.
Limited places and great interest, so do let us know if you are coming! (£7 per person). These evening sessions once a month are with a model only – you come with your own materials and passion 🙂 This time it is a male model you have not had before.
Next session is Tuesday the 18th of November – for this session we will have a couple modelling – man&woman.

The Seed talks are back every Thursday from the 9th of October.

Saturday the 11th of October from 10-3pm. “The tale of a tail”: An invitation – to open the doors to your imagination and playfully discover more about yourself as you unlock your creativity.

October Half Term workshop: Have fun with Willow Weaving & Basket making:
Thursday the 23rd of October from 2-4pm
This fun family workshop is run by the artists Katherine Miles & Bridget Coatalen who will have their work on display in October. No need to book – suggested donations £3.

October Half Term Halloween Fun Shadow Puppet Theatre:

Thursday the 30th of October from 3.30pm – 5pm: The Clockwork Moth & Mama Tokus presents:
“Attack of the Killer Pumpkin”
A magical Halloween shadow puppet fable for kids aged 8-80+ that tells of a Killer Pumpkin and a soup maker possessed by greed. Will the pair find enlightenment or will they be snuffed out?

Clockwork Moth starts the show with a 20min performance “A song a tale a rhyme” – suitable for ages.

Morning Baby Massage, Pregnancy Yoga and Therapeutic Yoga with Uma from Nov:

WEEK PREGNANCY YOGA AND BIRTH PREPARATION COURSE For Mums To Be starting Tues 4th Nov, includes prenatal postures and sequences for relaxing and opening the body, labour and birth positions, practice of breath to aid the birthing process. (Suitable to attend from 14 weeks onwards.)
Expertly guided by a Massage and Yoga therapist and Yoga teacher with 15 years of teaching experience. The course provides you with vital breath work methods, supportive and strengthening techniques, deep relaxation and much more.

WEEK BABY MASSAGE COURSE for mums starting Tues 4th Nov. Includes the benefits, techniques and practice of baby massage, instruction on the massage of babies feet and legs including reflexology points, tummy massage to improve digestive function plus help with colic, arms and chest improving respiratory and circulatory systems, back and face.Some Mum and baby yoga techniques will be included in the practice to encourage gentle opening of the body with stretch and tone of muscles and joints.

Massage can aid babies sleep, relaxation and general well being.(Suitable for babies from birth till crawling.)

WEEK THERAPEUTIC YOGA COURSE for ages and abilities, Starting Thurs 6th Nov. Includes postures and sequences for building strength and tone of the muscles balanced with flexibility and mobility of the joints. These practices help increase your energy whilst encouraging relaxation and ease into your life. Breath awareness will be taught within the practices including deep relaxation in every class.

is open from 12-6pm Tues-Fri and From -8pm on Saturdays (or by appointment).

Jellyfish is very happy with our wonderful local cake baker Lisa Beale from Cake Creations Devon https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cake-Creations-Devon/242421595811215 – Every week is a new adventure of flavours and tastes – no wonder Lisa’s cakes are very popular!
We will sell organic espresso coffee and hot choc & tea from local producer Owens Coffee. Soft drinks from local producer Luscombe Drinks.
We also sell Salcombe Diary Ice creams and home made waffles cooked fresh on the spot 🙂
Jellyfish cafe/bar is fully licensed and have Luscombe Cider, Jale Ale, lager, white & red wine on the menu.
Bring your children and come in to enjoy the wonderful exhibition this autumn accompanied by our tempting menu!


Jellyfish’s family or portrait photoshoots can be booked in the studio or on location. £25 for 1/2h.
It is the time for some wonderful autumnal colour shoots with your children (and animals…?)

Jellyfish is also offering Wedding shoots working together with Cara Griffiths from “Sand in My Pockets” www.sandinmypockets.com – two female photographers with a vision together – and we can offer a weddingpacket where a video also will be included.

Live Music/Gigs

New gig/music evening with Adele on the 8th of November – more info to come:)

We had two wonderful gigs/ family events this spring and would like to encourage the gigs for Saturday afternoons where children can be a part of the audience – musicians are welcome to plan more gigs with us, so do come in for a chat!
